This is a watch I made out of the trunk lock from my 1964 Coupe Deville. It took tons of Dremeling, and lots of patience, but it came out nearly machine-perfect, and Im very happy with it. If you would like one, write me an email and I might be convinced to make a few more...or just write me an email and tell me what you think.
I made a chunky, double-strap band for this watch due to its large size. The crest measures a little over two inches wide...not too big, but bigger than your average watch. It's a little heavier too, but I'm hoping to use newer model locks for future watches, and I think they are a bit lighter.
I think I need to repaint the lid. I guess I cant blame the paint for giving up after 40+ years.
The original glass from the donor watch broke when i was removing it, so I remade the glass with a piece of 1/8th inch plexi glass I had laying around. Now it will never break again. I ground (grinded?) it freehand, but I managed to get it nearly perfect in size and shape. It snugs right into the opening perfectly flush and stays there without glue or anything.
