The
next thing I did was coaxe Rondel into the garage under false
pretenses, then I clubbed him into unconciousness and TORE OUT
HIS GUTS. I couldnt bring myself to take pictures of this process,
it was just too gruesome. Kidding, I have them somewhere but this
was before I got a digital camera, and I dont think I got the
pics developed and have no idea where they are. Could be one of
5 or 6 disposable cameras that I'll prolly never get around to
developing. If I find them though, you'll be the second to know.
But picture an airplane hangar..a big one....thats what Rondel
looked like with all the interior stuff out of him. |

After..!(shazaam)

| This
is a semi-recent pic of the interior all put together. I two-toned
everything grey/gray and black, and remade the rotted door panels
from a sheet of very thin wood. <pics to come> I dyed the
carpets with some black RIT fabrik dye, as the carpets were in impeccable
condition. I bought a set of Bluish-Grey/Gray seats from a friend
for about $30, out of an '88 El Dorado, I think. I dusted some Smoke
Grey/Gray fabrik dye over them to kill the Bluish tone they had
and fit them in there. I gained about 6 inches of interior space
in the process too, by doing away with the coil-spring mini sofa
seats. The mold-injected foam seats are a LOT thinner. |
|
| Here's
the front bench. SPLIT-bench actually...and since Rondel is so wide,
there's about a 6-inch gap between the two seats,in which I plan
to build a little CD cubby or something to that effect. The driver's
seat is powered with 6 way tilt. I wired a new switch for the door
to control it. |
|
I
took the whole dash apart too, painted every little piece, and
reassembled it. I painted the dash pad with a black flex-coat.

|
This
is an extreme angle shot of the rear package tray<that thing
behind your head if you're sitting in the back seat>. The
old one was brown and ugly and warped beyond recognition. I traced
it and made a new one out of the same wood as the door panels.
the orbs in the pic are two new speakers. I had to cut a hole
for the left one...there was no stereo sound when this car was
made i guess, only mono. The lump way in the back is the mount
for the seatbelts I installed. Tore them out of a late-80's Caddy
at the scrapyard on the hottest day of last July, and welded reinforced
mounts to the FRAME. |

It's
all about the details.......

details comes later. |
